HIV infection in correctional facilities: analysis of the "One-Day Survey," trends 1988–1994

Since 1988, the prison administration, in collaboration with the hospital administration, has been conducting a "point-in-time" survey of the medical services in all correctional facilities. In June 1994, according to the survey conducted on a specific day, 1,620 inmates living with HIV were known to the prison administration’s medical services, representing 2.8% of the prison population. This percentage is lower than in the 1993 survey and significantly lower than the 5.8% recorded in the 1990 survey. (R.A.)
