Alcohol consumption patterns in French Polynesia.

In French Polynesia, high levels of alcohol consumption and its widespread acceptance call for a targeted prevention strategy. A study conducted by the Department of Health reveals the persistence of misconceptions as well as significant alcohol use—particularly among young people—as a means of coping with emotional distress. This research will enable prevention campaigns and initiatives to be tailored more closely to the needs of the population.
