Deaths of French nationals while abroad and their causes.
Monitoring the impact of trips abroad on the health of the French population represents a new dimension of health surveillance. Today, every year, more than 20% of the adult French population takes at least one trip abroad, and 2 to 3% of French people are expatriates. This international mobility exposes populations to health risks that must be assessed using epidemiological indicators. Therefore, a review of information sources was conducted to document the morbidity and mortality among French citizens (or residents of France) associated with travel and stays abroad. The analysis of the initial data obtained on mortality and causes of death is reported below. (Introduction)
