Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika

Locally Acquired Cases

• As of July 27, 2026, two unrelated locally acquired cases of dengue fever were identified in the Tarn and Hérault departments (Occitanie).
• One locally acquired case of chikungunya has been identified in the Tarn (Occitanie). This marks the first detection of chikungunya virus circulation in mainland France in 2026.
  Investigations and prevention and control measures are underway for these various cases.

Imported Cases

From May 1, when enhanced surveillance began, through July 26, 2026, the following cases were identified:

• 87 imported cases of chikungunya
• 261 imported cases of dengue
• 9 imported cases of Zika

West Nile virus infections

Autochthonous cases

• As of July 27, 2026, two locally acquired cases of West Nile virus infection have been identified in the departments of Pyrénées-Orientales (Occitanie) and Bouches-du-Rhône (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur).
