An increase in smoking has been confirmed in France.

The initial results of the 2010 Health Barometer from the National Institute for Prevention and Health Education (Inpes) confirm the recent increase in smoking in France. The proportion of daily smokers appears to have risen compared to 2005, particularly among women. The overall results, however, are quite mixed. For example, the proportion of smokers who smoke more than ten cigarettes a day is declining.
