Key Points
In Week 22 (May 26–June 1, 2025), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased compared to Week 20 among children under 2 years of age (+15%, or +801 visits) and adults aged 75 and older (+17%, or +1,008 visits). Activity remained stable in other age groups. Activity among those aged 75 and older was higher than in the previous two years during this period.
Across all age groups, the increase in medical procedures continues for:
upper respiratory tract infections (+9%, or 1,993 procedures), at levels comparable to previous years,
suspected COVID-19 (+31%, or 134 procedures), at a level comparable to or even lower than previous years among adults.
We also note, among adults only, an increase in procedures for bronchitis (+11%, or +206 procedures), asthma attacks (+7%, or +45 procedures), and pneumonia among those aged 75 and older (+30%, or +80 procedures).
Linked to the long weekend and high temperatures, an increase in cases was observed across all age groups for insect bites (+67%, or +404 cases) and heatstroke in small numbers (+62 cases), as well as, among adults, for dehydration (+41%, or +14 cases), urinary tract infections (+13%, or +230 cases), and general malaise (+10%, or +24 cases). Cases also increased for allergies among children (+16%, or +115 cases) and conjunctivitis among those aged 15–74 (+26%, or +111 cases).
There was also an increase in procedures:
in children: chickenpox (+67%, or +220 visits, at a lower level than in previous years) and scarlet fever in 2- to 14-year-olds (+28%, or +24 visits), as well as for gastroenteritis in children under 2 years of age (+21%, or +70 visits)
among adults: for depressive states (+21%, or +52 visits), low back pain/sciatica (the second most common condition among adults in the past week, +7%, or +227 visits), and isolated fever (+17%, or +46 visits).
