Summary
In Week 7 (February 15–21, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined among children aged 2–14 (-7%, or 1,278 fewer visits), remained stable among children under 2 (-2%, or 131 fewer visits), and increased among adults (+6%, or 2,685 more visits).
In Week 07, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups continued to decline, with 2,636 procedures recorded (vs. 2,824 in Week 06; a decrease of 7%) and a share of 3.8% of total activity across all age groups (vs. 4.2% in Week 06). This decline is observed across all age groups (-17% among those under 2 years old, -33% among 2- to 14-year-olds, and -12% among those 75 and older), with the exception of 15- to 74-year-olds, for whom the numbers remain stable (+0.3%). Suspected COVID-19 is the fourth most common diagnosis among those aged 15–74. At the regional level, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in Hauts-de-France (+21%, or +67 procedures), Brittany (+18%, or +15 procedures), and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+18%, or +12 procedures), and are stable or declining in other regions. Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 182,855 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Seasonal respiratory and digestive conditions are mostly on the rise, though at moderate levels. Notable increases include pneumonia (+14%, or +62 cases) across all age groups, bronchiolitis (+14%, or +43 cases), and acute bronchitis (+11%, or +37 cases) among children under 2 years of age, for vomiting (+22%, or +84 cases) among children under 15, for ENT conditions (+5%, or +329 cases), and for gastroenteritis (+18%, or +478 cases) among those aged 15 and older. There was also an increase in visits for trauma among children aged 2–14 (+19%, or +60 visits) and those aged 15 and older (+5%, or +94 visits), as well as for isolated fever (+14%, or +49 visits) and malaise (+18%, or +56 visits) among adults.
