Summary

  • The number of emergency room visits and hospitalizations has increased by approximately 5% among children under 2 years of age. An increase of approximately 3% in visits is also noted among those aged 2–14 and those over 75.

  • Among children under 2 years of age, there has been a 10–20% increase in visits and hospitalizations for pneumonia, asthma, and bronchiolitis. Excluding bronchiolitis, this increase is also observed among people over 75 years of age. The number of visits for bronchitis across all age groups is higher than expected.

  • Visits and hospitalizations for gastroenteritis are on the rise among children under 15 years of age.
