Key Points

In Week 46 (November 10–16, 2025), the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations following a visit increased compared to the previous week among children (up 11%, or 8,604 visits, and up 9%, or 716 hospitalizations, respectively). The indicators remained stable among adults.

Respiratory and ENT indicators were on the rise, primarily among children, while remaining at levels lower than or equivalent to previous years. There was an increase in the number of visits for:

  • asthma attacks among children under 2 years of age (+41%, or +332 visits) and those aged 2–14 years (+80%, or 1,158 visits), as well as among adults aged 15–74 years (+14%, or +157 visits);

  • ENT conditions in children (+30%, or 2,268 visits) and adults (+7%, or 195 visits);

  • cough in children (+58%, or 424 additional visits);

  • pneumonia in children (+70%, or 299 visits);

  • influenza/flu-like illness in children (+59%, or +176 visits) and in those aged 15–74 (+20%, or +100 visits);

  • acute bronchitis in children under 2 years of age (+25%, or +31 visits) and in those aged 2–14 (+130%, or +122 visits);

  • bronchiolitis in children under 1 year of age (+29%, or +387 visits).

Among children, there was also an increase in visits for:

  • fever alone among children under 2 years of age (+11%, or +190 visits) and those aged 2–14 (+32%, or +416 visits);

  • gastroenteritis (+9%, or +224 visits), at a level slightly higher than in previous years;

  • conjunctivitis, particularly among 2- to 14-year-olds (+26%, or +37 visits);

  • malaise among 2- to 14-year-olds (+6%, or +33 visits).

Among adults, there was an increase in visits for suicide attempts among those aged 45–64 (+11%, or +34 visits), conjunctivitis among those aged 15–74 (+9%, or +36 visits), and vomiting among those aged 75 and older (+7%, or +23 visits). This last indicator remains at a level slightly higher than in previous years among adults.
