Key Points
In Week 33 (August 11–17, 2025), compared to the previous week, emergency room visits increased among children (+6%, or 3,684 visits) and remained stable among adults. Hospitalizations following visits increased only among children under 2 years of age (+6%, or 125 hospitalizations); they remained stable in other age groups.
Directly linked to the heatwave across much of the country, there was an increase in cases compared to the previous week for:
Hyperthermia/heatstroke in all age groups (+189%, or 312 visits).
Dehydration in adults (+65%, or +235 visits), particularly those aged 75 and older.
Malaise in children and those aged 75 and older (respectively +12% and +6%, or +70 and +300 visits).
Isolated fever in children and those aged 75 and older (respectively +13% and +18%, or +350 and +78 visits).
Insect bites in all age groups (+22%, or +342 visits),
Allergies among 2-14-year-olds and 15-74-year-olds (up 10% and 15%, respectively, or 57 and 322 visits).
Skin and subcutaneous infections in children (+27%, or 295 visits) and those aged 15–74 (+12%, or 716 visits), and dermatological issues in children under 2 years old (+23%, or 49 visits).
There was also an increase in procedures among children and adults for:
ENT conditions among 2- to 14-year-olds and adults (up 24% and 19%, respectively, or 614 and 683 visits).
Suspected COVID-19 in children and those aged 15–74 (up 88% and 14%, respectively, or 125 and 78 visits),
Gastrointestinal symptoms: Gastroenteritis in all age groups (+22%, or +824 visits) and vomiting in children and those aged 15–74 (respectively +12% and +11%, or +116 and +122 visits).
Urinary tract infections in children under 2 years of age (11%, or 38 more visits) and renal colic in people aged 15–74 (+12%, or 481 more visits).
Among other conditions, there was an increase in visits for conjunctivitis in children (+18%, or +55 visits), chickenpox in children under 2 years of age (+32%, or +26 visits), as well as for suicide attempts among those aged 15–64 (+12%, or +150 visits).
