Summary

  • In week 16 of 2017 (April 17–23), emergency room visits and hospitalizations for all causes remained stable across all age groups and even decreased slightly among children.

  • For seasonal conditions, with the exception of visits for allergies (+7%) among children aged 2–14 and gastroenteritis (+6%) among adults, all other indicators were stable or declining across all age groups. Activity levels were comparable to those observed in the previous two years.

  • Among the conditions most frequently seen in emergency departments, indicators are also stable or declining across all age groups; there is only a very slight increase in visits for chest pain (+3%) among adults aged 15–74.
