Summary
In week 16 of 2017 (April 17–23), emergency room visits and hospitalizations for all causes remained stable across all age groups and even decreased slightly among children.
For seasonal conditions, with the exception of visits for allergies (+7%) among children aged 2–14 and gastroenteritis (+6%) among adults, all other indicators were stable or declining across all age groups. Activity levels were comparable to those observed in the previous two years.
Among the conditions most frequently seen in emergency departments, indicators are also stable or declining across all age groups; there is only a very slight increase in visits for chest pain (+3%) among adults aged 15–74.
