Among children, emergency department visits for all mental health indicators (excluding acute alcohol intoxication) and SOS Médecins calls for anxiety were on the rise during September 2024 (weeks 36–39), which was marked by a significant increase compared to August, with a weekly trend comparable to that of previous years. The number of visits for suicidal acts and suicidal ideation, as well as the number of SOS Médecins calls for anxiety, were higher than in previous years during this period among 11- to 17-year-olds.
Among adults, SOS Médecins calls for anxiety also increased among those aged 25–64 at the beginning of September before declining toward the end of the month. The number of calls for anxiety and visits for suicidal ideation among those over 25 remain higher than in previous years.
