Mental Health. Monthly Update, January 9, 2023.

Key points

  • In the emergency room:

    • For children, indicators followed the expected trends for the first week of the school year, with an increase in S1-2023 following two weeks of vacation (S51 and S52-2022), which saw a decline and returned to usual levels. For suicidal acts and thoughts, recorded levels remained high, though lower than those at the start of 2022 (with the exception of suicidal thoughts among 11- to 14-year-olds, which were higher than in 2022).

    • Among adults, visits for suicidal acts and thoughts remained at a level comparable to 2022, except among those aged 65 and older for suicidal acts and among 18- to 24-year-olds for suicidal thoughts (higher levels in both cases).

  • In the SOS Médecins network:

    • with the exception of an increase in cases of depressive episodes among 18- to 24-year-olds (low numbers), indicators remained at usual levels.
