Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, September 21, 2021

Key Points

  • Nationally, a moderate excess of all-cause deaths was observed between weeks S32 and S36 (September 9–12, 2021). This excess was particularly pronounced among adults aged 65–84.

  • In mainland France, mortality was moderately elevated in Occitanie and PACA between weeks 32 and 36, as well as in Corsica in week 34, Centre-Val-de-Loire in week 35, and Normandy in week 36.

  • In Martinique and Guadeloupe, the number of deaths peaked in S33 and began to decline starting in S34, although the numbers in S36 remain very high.
