Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, May 4, 2021
Key Points
The number of deaths remains significantly higher than expected between weeks S40-2020 and S16-2021 at the national level. A further increase in case numbers was observed through week S13, and they appear to have stabilized between weeks S14 and S16.
Excess deaths were primarily observed among people aged 65–84 through week 16. An increase was also noted among those aged 15–64 (weeks 12–16) and, within the usual fluctuation margins, among those aged 85 and older (weeks 13–16).
In week 16, excess deaths from all causes were observed in 9 regions and 22 metropolitan departments.
