Key Points

  • Nationally, the number of deaths across all ages and by age group, based on civil registry data (INSEE), remains within the usual range of fluctuation in week 27 (to be confirmed once data is consolidated).

  • In Martinique, a moderate excess of deaths from all causes is noted based on vital statistics data between weeks 21 and 27. A moderate increase in the number of deaths is also noted in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Occitanie, and Réunion in week 27.

  • In week 28, the number of deaths certified electronically at the national level increased (+8.2%, or +350 deaths), primarily among people over 65, in hospitals, and in nursing homes/retirement homes.
