Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, January 22, 2019.

Summary

Nationally, the number of deaths occurring during the second week of 2019 (January 7–13, 2019) remains within the usual range of fluctuation across all age groups, with the exception of those aged 85 and older, among whom a significant increase in the number of deaths is observed. At the regional level, this increase mainly concerns the Centre-Val de Loire region (significantly higher) and the Occitanie region (at the threshold of statistical significance).

These observations should be interpreted with caution, as the data are still unconsolidated due to the usual transmission delays.

According to data from electronic certification, 2,361 deaths were recorded in week 03-2019 (January 14–20, 2019).
