Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, February 17, 2015.

Summary

Following an initial increase in mortality observed between weeks 1 and 4 of 2015, a second rise in the number of deaths recorded by civil registry offices was noted during weeks 5 and 6 (January 26 to February 8) (Figures 1 and 2). The numbers are significantly higher than expected for the sixth consecutive week. This increase in mortality is observed among people aged 65–84 as well as among those aged 85 and older (Figure 3) and affects all regions.Electronically certified deaths remain stable at a high level, with 855 deaths recorded in week 7 (February 9–15) (Figure 4).
