Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, February 10, 2015.

Summary

During Week 5 (January 26–February 1, 2015), a new significant increase in mortality recorded by vital statistics offices was observed following the decrease noted in Weeks 3 and 4 (Figures 1 and 2). The figures are significantly higher than expected for the fifth consecutive week.The increase in Week 5 was observed among people aged 65–84 and those over 85 (Figure 3) and was seen in most regions. The rise in the number of deaths certified electronically continued in Week 5 (January 26–February 1), with 870 deaths recorded (Figure 4).
