Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, August 30, 2016.

Summary

Mortality rates observed during week 33 (August 15–21) remained stable at levels close to those expected for this period, across all ages and age groups (Figures 1–3). Given the usual delays in data transmission and the timing of school vacations and holidays, the observed mortality figures are still incomplete. Caution is therefore advised when interpreting these observations. In week 34 (August 22–28), 1,211 deaths were recorded via electronic certification; however, it is not possible to assess trends relative to previous weeks due to the low coverage rate for this source.
