Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, August 25, 2015.

Summary

Based on data recorded by civil registry offices in a sample of 1,000 municipalities (covering nearly 70% of national mortality), mortality observed during the first week of August (week 32, August 3–9, 2015) falls within the upper limits of normal fluctuations. This increase is consistent with the rise in temperatures recorded across the eastern half of France between August 4 and 9, 2015 (Figures 1–3). It is primarily observed among those aged 85 and older. 640 deaths were electronically certified during week 34 (August 17–23, 2015), a figure stable compared to that of the previous week (Figure 4).
