Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, August 23, 2016.

Summary

Mortality rates observed during week 32 (August 8–14) are stable and in line with expected levels for this period, across all ages and age groups (Figures 1–3). Given the usual delays in data transmission and the timing of school vacations and public holidays, the observed mortality figures are still incomplete. Caution is therefore advised when interpreting these findings. In week 32 (August 8–14), 1,201 deaths were recorded via electronic certification; however, it is not possible to interpret trends given the low coverage rate for this source.
