Key Points
Since January 1, 2019, 2,281 cases of measles have been reported, including 659 (29%) hospitalizations (29 in intensive care), 160 cases (7%) complicated by pneumonia, and 2 cases of encephalitis, including 1 death (subacute encephalitis in an immunocompromised patient).
The measles virus continues to circulate: the epidemic peak was observed in week 21 (156 cases), and since then there has been a decline in weekly cases, with 56 cases reported in week 29.
89 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.
88% of cases occurred in unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated individuals (out of a total of 1,609 cases, aged over one year and born since 1980, for whom vaccination status was known).
