Key Points
Since January 1, 2019, 155 cases of measles have been reported (compared to 404 cases during the same period in 2018).
2,652 cases reported over the past 52 weeks, i.e., between February 12, 2018, and February 10, 2019.
The highest incidence of reported cases was among children under 1 year of age: 32.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
24% of reported cases were hospitalized.
89% of measles cases occurred in unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated individuals.
3 deaths occurred in 2018.
90 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.
An outbreak of 25 community cases is currently underway in Val Thorens (provisional data), with cases spreading to other regions and countries (two cases already reported by Belgium and Scotland).
In the Indian Ocean: 10 cases recently reported in Mayotte, with a high risk of spread due to insufficient vaccination coverage and vulnerable populations, and 27 cases in Réunion with a resurgence of local transmission following imported cases.
