Key Points
Resurgence of measles since November 2017.
Trend in weekly incidence of reported cases: epidemic peak in week 13 (W13 2018), followed by a rapid decline in weekly numbers through week 38.
A moderate resurgence in the number of cases has been noted since week 39 (around 15 weekly cases, peaking at 23 cases in week 42), primarily linked to an outbreak in department 93, where 59 cases have been reported since mid-September 2018.
2,902 cases reported over the past 52 weeks, i.e., between December 18, 2017, and December 16, 2018.
88 departments reported at least 1 case during the period, including 2 confirmed cases recently reported in Mayotte, with a high risk of spread due to insufficient vaccination coverage and vulnerable populations. Only the Île-de-France region reports active outbreaks.
Highest incidence among children under 1 year of age: 33.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
23% of reported cases were hospitalized.
89% of measles cases occurred in unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated individuals.
