Key Points
Since January 1, 2019, 2,313 cases of measles have been reported, including 672 (29%) requiring hospitalization (30 in intensive care), 165 cases (7%) complicated by pneumonia, and 2 cases of encephalitis, including 1 death (subacute encephalitis in an immunocompromised patient).
The decline in measles virus circulation is confirmed: the epidemic peak was observed in week 21 (151 cases), and since then there has been a decrease in the number of weekly cases, with 49 cases reported in week 30.
89 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.
88% of cases occurred in unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated individuals (out of a total of 1,627 cases, aged over one year and born since 1980, for whom vaccination status was known).
