Public Health Bulletin on HIV and STIs in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. November 2022.
Key Points
Participation in the LaboVIH survey and the reporting of new HIV diagnoses via e-DO by clinicians and laboratory technicians are essential for the production of reliable surveillance indicators. In the region in 2021, participation in the LaboVIH survey and the completeness of the DO data were significantly lower than in previous years, undermining the reliability of the surveillance results.
HIV testing activity is significant in the Paca region, second only to Île-de-France, but with a testing rate stable compared to 2020, while the positivity rate increased in 2021 to 1.5 per 1,000 tests.
The number of new HIV diagnoses per million inhabitants, which had been declining slightly since 2017 in the Paca region, increased in 2021, but this result should be interpreted with caution.
New HIV diagnoses have increased slightly among people born in France, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM).
