Key Points

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

  • Since the last bulletin, two new outbreaks of local transmission have been identified: one involving chikungunya in Cagnes-sur-Mer and one involving dengue in Aubagne.

  • The epidemiological situation continues to evolve in the municipalities of Fréjus and Antibes, where the chikungunya virus remains active. The number of confirmed cases now stands at 47 in Fréjus (+16 cases) and 38 in Antibes (+18 cases).

  • As of September 2, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region has recorded 14 outbreaks of local transmission: 10 of chikungunya (total of 147 cases, +40 cases since the previous update) and 4 of dengue (total of 9 cases, +2 cases since the previous update).

West Nile Virus Infections

  • Since the last bulletin, 4 new cases of West Nile virus (WNV) infection have been reported in Bouches-du-Rhône (+2 cases) and Var (+2 cases). As of September 2, the PACA region has recorded 14 cases of WNV infection.

Heatwave

  • No heat wave is currently underway. Emergency department activity has decreased to a level comparable to seasonal expectations. Only one heat-related diagnosis has been recorded by the SOS Médecins associations.

Asthma at the Start of the School Year

  • Monitoring of asthma-related visits among children via analysis of OSCOUR® and SOS Médecins indicators has been available since week 34. In the Paca region, activity related to asthma at SOS Médecins and in emergency departments among those under 15 remains low.
