Key Points

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

  • Since the last bulletin, 6 new episodes of local transmission of chikungunya have been identified: 3 in the Var, 1 in the Alpes-Maritimes, and 2 in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Several isolated cases with undetermined exposure have also been identified.

  • The Paca region is the most affected by local chikungunya transmission, with a total of 27 local transmission outbreaks and 312 cases (+70 since the last update). Four dengue outbreaks (12 cases) have also been identified.

West Nile Virus Infections

  • Since the last bulletin, a new case of West Nile virus (WNV) infection has been reported. As of September 22, the Paca region has recorded 22 cases of WNV infection (+1 since the last update).

Asthma at the Start of the School Year

  • In Week 38, two weeks after the start of the school year, the use of emergency care for asthma among children under 15 remains high: 298 emergency room visits (vs. 240 in Week 37), 40% of which resulted in hospitalization (121 vs. 114 in Week 37), and 40 SOS Médecins calls (vs. 34 in Week 37).
