Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
Nearly 450 locally transmitted cases of chikungunya in the region – Decline in the number of new cases for the second consecutive week
In mainland France, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region is the most affected by local chikungunya transmission, with a total of 34 local transmission outbreaks and 431 cases linked to these outbreaks (+12 since the last update). In addition, 13 isolated cases of chikungunya with multiple exposures have been identified in the region.
Four dengue outbreaks, totaling 16 cases (+1), have also been identified.
West Nile Virus Infections
In 2025, the Paca region recorded 28 human cases of West Nile virus infection (no new cases since the last update): 17 in Bouches-du-Rhône, 9 in Var, and 2 in Vaucluse.
Acute respiratory infections
Influenza and influenza-like illnesses: SOS Médecins and emergency department activity comparable to that observed during the same period last season; SOS Médecins activity slightly up.
Bronchiolitis (under 1 year of age): SOS Médecins and emergency department activity comparable to that observed last season during the same period; emergency department activity slightly up.
COVID-19: SOS Médecins and emergency department activity lower than that observed during the same period last season.
Mortality
Increase in mortality observed in week 41 in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region among those aged 75 and older. Trend to be confirmed in week 42 (unconsolidated data).
