Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of October 6, 2015.
Over the past week in the region:
Persistent consultations for nasopharyngitis via SOS Médecins since the start of the school year. Beginning of an increase in emergency department visits for all causes among children under 1 year of age, particularly at the Nantes University Hospital. Consultations and emergency department visits for asthma attacks observed in children continue to decline. In terms of viral circulation, active circulation of rhinovirus is reported by the Nantes University Hospital laboratory.
A slight increase in emergency room visits at the Nantes University Hospital and SOS Médecins visits for bronchiolitis in week 40 (but remaining below thresholds). No increase in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV, the primary cause of bronchiolitis outbreaks).
Reports of mushroom poisoning, recorded by the Angers Poison Control and Toxicovigilance Center, indicate 63 cases in the region since early July, including 17 in the past week. The 63 cases reported in the region account for 9% of the 721 cases reported in France during this period.
