Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of November 24, 2023.

Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • After a decline observed in Week 45 following the school holidays, SOS Médecins calls for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were once again rising sharply in Week 46. In hospitals, emergency room visits and hospitalizations were also on the rise in Week 46, as was the positivity rate for RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) reported by the virology laboratories at the Nantes and Angers university hospitals.

COVID-19

  • SOS Médecins calls for suspected Covid-19 tended to decrease slightly in Week 46, while emergency department visits for suspected Covid-19 were up slightly. Incidence and positivity rates showed a slight upward trend in Week 46, which will need to be confirmed in the coming weeks. These indicators remained generally at moderate levels (as a reminder, since July 1, only PCR-confirmed cases have been reported).

Influenza

  • The Pays de la Loire region was not in a flu epidemic phase in week 46, like the other regions of mainland France.
