Perinatal Health in Réunion. Results of the 2021 National Perinatal Survey in the French Overseas Departments and Regions (ENP-DROM 2021)

The perinatal situation in Réunion differs from that in mainland France in that it shows poorer outcomes in terms of infant and maternal morbidity and mortality. Broadly speaking, according to Inserm, the increased risk of maternal mortality is linked to the specific profile of women, which puts them at greater risk of serious complications, as well as to differences in the quality of care provided. The results of the 2021 ENP-DROM survey in Réunion shed light on both the specific characteristics of pregnant women and their healthcare pathways. These results will be used to implement appropriate measures as part of the regional health program, which is currently being developed.
