Surveillance of Acute Gastroenteritis in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of October 17, 2014.

Epidemiological Situation

The gastroenteritis outbreak in Réunion, which began in late August, has stabilized at consistently high levels. Furthermore, the high rotavirus positivity rate since July confirms the circulation of this virus in Réunion.However, emergency room visits for gastroenteritis have been decreasing for the past three weeks but remain at high levels for the season, and children aged 5 and under remain the most affected. The peak in emergency room visits occurred in week 38 (September 15–21).
