Epidemiological Situation

The gastroenteritis outbreak in Réunion, which began in late August, continues to spread in community healthcare settings, with the number of consultations for gastroenteritis exceeding the average of the previous four years. Furthermore, the rotavirus positivity rate has remained high since July, confirming the circulation of this virus in Réunion.However, emergency department visits for gastroenteritis have been decreasing over the past two weeks but remain at high levels for the season, and children aged 5 and under remain the most affected. The peak in emergency department visits appears to have occurred in week 38 (September 15–21).
