Oscour® Network Emergency Department Visit Indicators:
Among adults (18 and older), the number of emergency room visits is down in 2022 (January–February) compared to the previous two months (-16.9%) and the same period in 2021 (-9.6%) and 2020 (-19.4%).
For children (under 18), emergency department visits are down slightly in 2022 (January–February) compared to the previous two months (-9.2%). In contrast, the number of emergency department visits increased compared to the same period in 2021 (+4.1%) and 2020 (+6.2%).
Compared to the same period in 2021, mental health monitoring indicators showed a decrease in emergency room visits in January–February 2022, with the exception of suicidal ideation and psychotic disorders.
At the start of 2022, the breakdown by age group indicates an increase in suicidal acts among 18- to 24-year-olds (+16.7%).
The number of emergency department visits for suicidal ideation was on the rise in February 2022. February 2022 marked the highest monthly number of emergency department visits recorded since January 2018.
No significant increase in emergency room visits was observed for mental health monitoring indicators based on emergency room visit data.
