Key Points

Chikungunya

  • Since August 23, 2024, 8,749 cases of chikungunya have been reported on the island, including 8,600 in 2025. The outbreak continues to spread, with nearly 2,800 cases detected in S10. The southern municipalities, including Le Tampon, continue to report the highest number of cases, but the outbreak has now spread across the entire island and is progressing everywhere. Two deaths linked to the disease have been confirmed.

  • Reunion is experiencing a chikungunya outbreak.

Leptospirosis

  • Increase in the number of weekly cases: 27 cases were reported in 2025 (+8 cases compared to Week 1), suggesting a late start to the seasonal resurgence of leptospirosis on the island.

Acute respiratory infections

  • Indicators in community practice and hospitals are at a low level with no public health impact.
