Key points
Smallpox B (Mpox)
Two confirmed cases imported from Madagascar have been identified in Réunion.
Leptospirosis
The onset of the rainy season marks the start of the usual period of seasonal resurgence of leptospirosis at high levels, with 25 cases reported since the beginning of the year
Chikungunya and dengue
A few locally acquired cases of arboviral diseases have been reported since the beginning of the year.
To date, 10 cases of dengue and 8 cases of chikungunya have been detected. All are located in the western and southern regions.
Malaria
Since December, there has been an increase in the number of imported malaria cases, primarily among travelers returning from the Comoros. Nine cases were reported in December and 17 in January. We urge all stakeholders to remain vigilant and remind them that, until proven otherwise, any fever upon return from an endemic area should be considered a case of malaria.
Flu-like syndrome
Health indicators are at baseline levels and stable.
Bronchiolitis in children under 2
Indicators for emergency room visits and hospitalizations are at a low level with no public health impact.
Gastroenteritis
Hospital and outpatient indicators have remained at a high but stable level for the past three weeks.
