Health Monitoring in Mayotte. Bulletin of March 19, 2025.

Key Points

  • Gastrointestinal syndromes: Indicators were generally stable or declining, depending on the data source, but some remained at high levels.

  • Typhoid: 60 cases of typhoid have been reported since January 1, 2025, mainly between 2025-S05 and 2025-S09. Three cases were identified in 2025-S11 in two villages in the municipality of Mamoudzou.

  • Respiratory syndromes: Mayotte has been in an epidemic phase for influenza since 2025-S05 (late January) and for bronchiolitis since 2024-S49 (early December). Virological indicators were increasing for influenza and decreasing for RSV. However, they should be interpreted with caution due to a significant drop in the number of tests performed in 2025-S11.

  • Access to water: difficulties accessing water were reported and observed in households visited during community-based surveillance outreach visits.

  • Activity volume of various facilities: the total activity volume of the various participating medical facilities was generally stable or decreasing, depending on the data source, compared to the previous week.
