Mpox

  • On January 8, 2026, a case of Mpox clade 1b, biologically confirmed by the CNR, was reported in Mayotte. To date, no other suspected cases have been reported. This report is linked to the ongoing outbreak in Madagascar.

Acute respiratory infections

  • Influenza: ongoing epidemic, with a decrease in influenza activity since week 52 and an epidemic peak reached in week 50 of 2025;

  • Bronchiolitis: the region has remained in the pre-epidemic phase since week 48 of 2025; Persistent circulation of RSV, justifying the continuation of enhanced surveillance to detect the onset of the epidemic phase early;

  • SARS-CoV-2: slight decrease in cases in week 02-2026.

Mosquito-borne diseases

  • Chikungunya: virus circulation and risk of a resurgence of the epidemic.

  • Malaria: four cases of malaria detected in week 02-2026, currently under investigation.
