Key Points

  • Since the beginning of 2019, 17,919 cases have been confirmed: the number of confirmed cases has stabilized during weeks 37–38, with 18 and 14 confirmed cases, respectively (unconsolidated data);

  • In S37-S38, 12 municipalities are still affected by active virus transmission;

  • The majority of cases (>80% of cases) are reported in the west and south; St Paul, St Leu, La Possession, and St Louis are the most affected municipalities;

  • Winter circulation remains at a slightly higher level in 2019 than during the winter of 2018;

  • An outbreak of DENV1 has been identified in St. Paul; however, both DENV1 and DENV2 serotypes are circulating throughout the island.
