Dengue Surveillance in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of October 29, 2019.

Key Points

Dengue transmission continues at a higher level than that observed in 2018 during the same period.
In week 42, 13 cases were reported (unconsolidated data) and 25 cases in week 41, bringing the total to more than 18,020 confirmed cases since the beginning of the year.

The first transmission clusters were identified earlier than in 2018 in Saint-Pierre, Saint-Leu, Saint-Paul, Le Port, La Possession, Saint-Denis, and Saint-Benoit, and 14 municipalities reported cases occurring in weeks 41 and 42.

Co-circulation of the two serotypes DENV1 and DENV2 has been detected across the entire island, and cases of secondary dengue are now being identified.
