Dengue Situation in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of March 27, 2014.
Epidemiological Situation
Despite the recent occurrence of a locally acquired case of dengue in the southern part of the island, no circulation of the virus has been detected. However, several territories near the Indian Ocean region are currently affected by active circulation of the dengue virus (Comoros, Mayotte, Mauritius), with two serotypes identified. The risk of virus importation is therefore particularly high, and current climatic conditions are favorable to the vector. The epidemiological situation corresponds to alert level 1B* of the arbovirus control plan (“Knowledge of a dengue or chikungunya epidemic in the regional exchange zone and absence of cases or occurrence of isolated cases”).
