Dengue Situation in Mayotte. Epidemiological Update as of February 28, 2014.

Analysis of the epidemiological situation

The occurrence of six locally acquired cases of dengue in Mayotte over the past two weeks, with no epidemiological link between them, suggests the establishment of low-level local transmission of the virus on the island. The northeast (Mamoudzou, Koungou, and Petite Terre) appears to be the most affected area, but the virus may also be circulating in other municipalities on the island. As current weather conditions are highly conducive to the intensification of this viral circulation, vigilance must be heightened in the coming weeks to combat the vector and detect new cases early.
