COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Mayotte as of December 2, 2021

Following the surge linked to the arrival of the Delta variant in Mayotte, virological indicators have declined significantly. Indeed, from week 17-2021 to week 34-2021, the weekly incidence rate remained well below the alert threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. A slight increase was observed in week 35, with an incidence rate of 52 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Following this slight spike above the alert threshold in week 35 of 2021, the incidence rate declined again. In week 47 of 2021, the incidence rate was 24 cases per 100,000 inhabitants vs. 35.8 in week 46 of 2021 (in mainland France, 311 cases per 100,000 inhabitants vs. 194 in week 46) and the positivity rate was 1.5% (vs. 2.63% in week 46 of 2021). In Réunion, indicators began to rise in Week 42 of 2021; in Week 43 of 2021, the incidence rate exceeded the alert threshold, and the increase continued until reaching an incidence rate of 254 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 47.
