COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Viruses in Réunion. Update as of February 24, 2022.

Key Points

The decline in epidemic pressure indicators continued in S07-2022, but they remained at high levels. Hospital indicators were also declining, though new hospitalizations and new ICU admissions remained high. In addition, the number of weekly deaths recorded in Réunion was on the rise.

Despite a decrease in epidemic pressure, the island of Réunion remains the department with the highest incidence and hospitalization rates in France. The Omicron variant accounted for 100% of interpretable sequences in S-05 and S-06.

As restrictions are lifted, it is essential to remain vigilant and mobilized by combining efforts: completing the vaccination schedule (including the full primary series and a booster shot after three months), adhering to all preventive measures, reducing contacts, and cooperating with contact tracing.
