Chikungunya and Dengue in Réunion. Bulletin dated February 4, 2025.
Key Points
Since August 23, 2024, 529 cases of chikungunya have been reported on the island.
The outbreak is accelerating, with cases doubling in one week, rising from 82 in week 03 to 169 in week 04.
Active outbreaks, notably in Ravine Sheunon (Étang-Salé), Ligne des 400 (Saint-Pierre/Le Tampon), and Bras Creux (Le Tampon), remain highly active.
At the same time, the spread is intensifying, with cases reported in 18 municipalities, confirming island-wide transmission.
Since the beginning of the year, dengue transmission has remained limited, with 1 case detected in week 04, bringing the total number of cases detected since the start of the year to 5.
