Key Points
Since the beginning of 2025, more than 33,000 biologically confirmed cases and 91,500 medical consultations for chikungunya have been recorded on the island.
The epidemic is still ongoing, with 4,913 confirmed cases and 19,600 reported consultations in Week 14. The epidemic is widespread and major.
However, in week 14, indicators related to chikungunya in primary care and emergency departments began to decline; a further two weeks of data are needed to confirm whether or not the epidemic has passed its peak.
Since week 11, 41 severe cases of chikungunya have been reported in elderly individuals or infants who presented with a severe clinical condition requiring intensive care.
