  • Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for ischemic heart disease in Réunion (491 vs. 459 per 100,000 inhabitants in France) was higher than the national average, with an average of 2,588 patients hospitalized per year in the region. The standardized prevalence in 2022 was 6.0% in the region, slightly higher than the national rate (5.5%). The standardized mortality rate (2020–2022) was also significantly higher in Réunion (81 per 100,000 inhabitants) compared to the national rate (53 per 100,000).

  • Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for heart failure in Réunion was higher than the national rate (437 vs. 344 per 100,000 inhabitants), with an average of 1,779 patients hospitalized annually in the region. The standardized prevalence was 3.5% in 2022 in the region, one percentage point higher than the national rate (2.5%). The standardized mortality rate (2020–2022) was slightly lower in the region compared to the national level (41 vs. 46 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively).

  • Between 2021 and 2023, the standardized incidence rate of patients hospitalized for stroke in Réunion was significantly higher than the national rate (384 vs. 231 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively), with an average of 1,883 patients hospitalized annually in the region. The standardized prevalence in 2022 was 3.0% in the region, higher than the national prevalence (2.0%). The standardized mortality rate in the region (87 per 100,000 inhabitants) was higher than that of France (58 per 100,000 inhabitants)
