Addictive behaviors in Réunion: prioritizing alcohol prevention.

Alcoholism is the number one addiction problem in Réunion. The national government, local authorities, professionals, the regional education office, and community organizations have just developed a regional policy to prevent addictive behaviors, with alcohol being the primary focus. This partnership is up to the challenge. The plan includes public outreach, prevention initiatives, and enhanced treatment services. More broadly, the prevention of risky behaviors is one of the largest budget items in the regional public health program.
